- As part of the Finance Act for 2019, the then government (V, LA and K) and DF decided to conduct an EIA study of an extension of the Albaek-Skagen section to 2+1 road.
The Minister of Transport to expand the road between Albaek and Skagen (Route 40) to a 2 plus 1 road in accordance with Appendix 4 of the Act. Section 2 of the Act, cf. section 1 of Executive Order No. 630 of June 3, 2025 came into force.
to Parts: Hirtshalsvej - Hulsig and Hulsig Hede Nord - Flagbakkevej in Skagen. Already expanded stretch over Hulsig Hede.

On the current 2+1 stretch over Hulsig Hede is a speed limit of 90 km/h.
