Description: To get as qualified knowledge of the raw material resources as possible, the Danish EPA performs every year a mapping of raw materials in Danish waters. Data and results from raw material mappings are gathered in a public national database - the marine raw material database (MARTA).

With the ongoing consultation of the draft Denmark's first sea plan, raw material recovery areas, as a starting point, are limited in the field of development zones laid out for raw material recovery in the marine plan. To raise awareness of raw material resources in these development zones, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency manages mapping of development zones in Western Baltic Sea and the Belt Sea in 2021.
