Description:
Raw materials from the sea are a limited resource, the exploitation of which should take place in a sustainable manner. Therefore, there is a need for qualified knowledge about raw materials in Danish waters, which can contribute to a sustainable management and safe raw material supply from the sea in the future. In order to increase knowledge of raw materialsresources at sea, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency collects data on raw materials in Danish waters every year, which are used to map the location, volume and quality of raw materials. Data and results from resource mapping are collected in a public national database - the
Marine Resource Database (MARTA) - which was developed in collaboration with GEUS (The National Geological Surveys for Denmark and Greenland).
