Description:
Discharge of nutrients from land-based fish farming (RAS) is the most significant barrier to the establishment of RAS systems for the production of fish on land. The aim of the project is to reduce the production contribution from RAS to 0 kg/t of fish through nutrient removal using mussel production.With the development of mussel farming, the project will make it possible for RAS plants to be located at all coastal areas, without deteriorating the environmental condition through the discharge of nutrients. The purpose of the project is to develop new methods and management models for the removal of nutrients with mussels as a biologicalk filter in connection with land-based RAS installations. The secondary purpose is to qualify the environmental impact of marine mussel farming, which is used for additional nutrient removal.
